Lech Wałęsa (ur. 29 września 1943 w Popowie) – polski polityk i działacz związkowy. Prezydent Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej od 22 grudnia 1990 do 22 grudnia 1995.
Czołowy opozycjonista w okresie PRL-u.
Współzałożyciel i pierwszy przewodniczący NSZZ „Solidarność”.
Laureat Pokojowej Nagrody Nobla (1983), przez tygodnik „Time” uznany za Człowieka Roku (1981) oraz za jednego ze 100 najważniejszych ludzi stulecia (1999).
Prezydent kończy dzisiaj 79 lat.
